One for the Road will contest the Newcastle to Port Stephens race, returning to finish off Newcastle some time Sunday afternoon before continuing on to Sydney arriving in the early hours of Monday morning.
With a crew made up of representatives from most UN member nations the need to put in some solid night sailing prior to hitting the starting line on the 26th December was considered important. Whilst many of the crew have sailed together in the past boat management was keen to conduct night sailing exercises as a key part of team and boat preparations.
The boat has been well prepared and will be competitive in its class. There is a sense of optimism amongst the crew.
Whether or not she has been fairly handicapped remains to be seen but a world-class crew has been assembled for race south and Skipper Kym Butler is confident his team will perform well in any given condition.
Team preparations will continue in Sydney following this weekend's offshore adventures.
