In a unique ceremony at Emirates Team NZ base on Tuesday afternoon, many New Zealand Olympic representatives were presented with their Olympic Pins, by triple Olympic medalist and International Olympic Committee member, Barbara Kendall.
Each New Zealand Olympic representative from the first, Harry Kerr who won a Bronze medal, in 1908 in the 3.5km Walk to the latest in 2012, all are allocated a number, and all but 17 now have been presented (or their families).
In an earlier sister-ceremony, members of Emirates Team New Zealand were presented with their Olympic pins, except for skipper Dean Barker, who was presented with his Pin on Tuesday, and also received a Pin on behalf of his wife, Mandy an Olympic Hockey representative.
Master of Ceremonies was Ralph Roberts, a Double Olympic rep in Finn and FD, former Olympic Yachting Manager, Chef de Mission, and Olympic jury member. Also speaking were the next Chef de Mission and Olympic Gold medalist Rob Waddell and NZ Olympic Committee President, also an Olympic Gold Medalist (Rowing).
