The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) has announced that it has a new website design at its same address: www.orc.org. This new site has many new features to interest sailors, race managers, event organizers, and all others interested in ORC rules, rating systems, and the latest news from ORC events and activities worldwide. For regular users in the ORC community, the new site will still have all the same features that make ORC's rating science so transparent and accessible, but now in a format that is easier to navigate. Links for race managers and subscribers to access RMS files for boats in the database are now on the home page. So is the log-in area to Sailor Services, ORC's exclusive online access to its database of 61,000 measurement records, free copies of certificates, and the ability to run test certificates using ORC's recently-released 2013 VPP. Another feature is the more enhanced and interactive content placed in the drop-down menus on the Home page, where extensive information that used to be contained in downloadable files can now be directly viewed online. This makes the site a more important and direct resource for information on topics such as Measurement, Ratings, Scoring, Software, GP Classes, Organization, Meetings, Rules and Contacts. For new and more occasional visitors to the site, not only are the above resources easier to find, but the News and information and links to important upcoming events is also easier to navigate. This includes a Calendar of worldwide events that can be sorted by Date, by Event, or by Country. Regatta organizers can submit new events here, and a list and photos of past ORC Offshore World Champions is also given back to 1999. The ORC columns published bi-monthly in Seahorse Magazine are also now available for viewing and download, in addition to free access for ORC certificate holders to each online issue going back to April 2009. 'We hope this new website design will help make our system even more accessible to more people,' said Bruno Finzi, Chairman of ORC. 'It is important for us to make available the tools we have to make offshore racing objective and fair for boats of all types and sizes, and we think this new site design will help in this regard.' Currently the entire content of the ORC site is in English. However, given that its rules are used in 35 countries around the world, ORC will soon start an initiative to offer the core content in other languages, starting with Italian, Spanish, Croatian, Greek, Portuguese and Brazilian, and then other languages as they become translated. For more information on ORC rules, ratings, products and services, visit www.orc.org.
