ORC World Championship - Three World Titles secured

'Tutima (DK 46) in action - ORC worlds 2014'    www.segel-bilder.de
ORC World Championship is being held in Kiel, Germany from second to 9th August 2014.

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) held its annual conference in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman and so did the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC), who helps organize ISAF’s official offshore World Championship, the annual ORC Worlds.

'The ORC committee decided to organize the World Championship in Kiel, establishing three classes which need to be defined. So we will have three World Champions,' said Dr. Wolfgang Schäfer, ORC-Vice-President and representative of the German Sailing Association (DSV). Schäfer has been a strong advocate of this three-class solution due to the over 100 entries found in the last three editions of the ORC Worlds, which until now had been sailed only in two classes.
With three classes, the range of boat sizes in each class will be much more manageable and lead to more competitive racing, a major benefit for the sailors.

Having three classes also gives the race organizers more flexibility to define where to make the appropriate splits to optimize the size and competiveness of each class. And three classes also means there will be three World Champions.
It is too early to say if the Tutima sailing team will be on top when the races are done, as the DK-46 yacht is registered and already looking forward to the event. But one thing is for sure: the watch manufacturer based in Glashütte (Germany) with many years of horological experience will reward a winners-watch for the champion of each class.

'We are engaged in the Kieler Woche for nine years now and we are excited having the ORC World Championship in 2014 so close to our home base' says Jörg Delecate, Managing Director of Tutima Uhrenfabrik GmbH NDL. Glashütte. 'Such an outstanding event is a perfect match with our brand and we are looking forward to be the Official Time Keeper at the ORC Worlds in Kiel-Schilksee.'

The watch manufactory based at a legendary location of world renown as a 'watch city' since 1845 represents the same values which are important to sailors: reliability, steadiness and accuracy. These values are also reflected in the name Tutima for more than 85 years of craftsmanship with tradition: 'Tutima' comes from Latin 'tutus' that means 'secure' and 'protected.'
