The first round in the O'Pen Bic Junior Pacific Series was staged off the Louis Vuitton Village this evening, with 20 of the top 40 selected sailors in New Zealand, aged 15 years or under competing.

Two qualifying rounds will be sailed, with the top ten from each pool going forward to the final on February 12 and 13.

The winner will receive an O'Pen Bic yacht plus an 18th man spot in the final of the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series.

The O'Pen Bic was chosen as Baron Bich, founder of the Bic company was also the patron of four French challenges for the America's cup - the last two with Bruno trouble at the helm.

This regatta is organised by the Kohimaramara Yacht Club.
