OKI 24-hr Race Winners announced

Optimists racing in the first race of the OKI 24 hour race, they were followed by the Lasers (sailing the full 24 hours and the Legends only sailing for three hours on Sunday) SW
The OKI 24-hr sailing race on Lake Pupuke over the weekend saw Dan Slater (Olympic Representative Finn class) and Andrew Murdoch (current Olympic representative Laser class) win the Legends race against Prada and Emirates NZ teams.
Other winners included: in the Open Division, Andy Maloney and Sam Meech came first in their OKI-sponsored boat with Scott Barnes and Dylan Wichman coming second. In the Masters division, first place was taken by the Burton & Co boat featuring Tony Nicholson, Scott Leith and Mike Knowsley.
Women’s Division: Olympic representative Sara Winther and Miranda Powrie, with Suzannah Pyatt won the women’s division and pushed the overall winners very hard.
In the youth division Mahia Pepper and Mathew Kempkers won on the Burnsco Marine boat.
The events were fundraisers for Murray’s Bay Sailing Club to develop youth sailing and local business Comworth, distributor for OKI fax and telecommunications products, has been sponsoring the race since 1989.
