Germany’s largest boat builder Bavaria Yachts have been hard at it all year designing their new cruising range, which began back in April this year with the announcement of the new 31 Cruiser. This was soon followed be the announcement of the 34 and 38 Cruisers and now the all new 40. Scheduled to commence production in February 2008, the new 40 will eventually replace the very popular 39 Cruiser which has been selling in large numbers both in Australia and worldwide.

Bavaria’s direction for 2008 and beyond now puts a great deal of focus on larger cockpits, improved ventilation and the ability to sail short handed. The new Bavaria 40 Cruiser delivers a huge amount of space in the cockpit with twin wheels and electrically operated transom platform which allowed the designers to extend the length of the cockpit.

For ease of handling Bavaria have opted for a modern solution for handling the mainsheet which now leads back to two self tailing winches in the cockpit near the helm. This means that the helmsman can now trim the mainsheet from the wheel, a huge advantage for solo sailors or small crews.

The 40 has no less than 16 opening hatches for light and ventilation, 7 of which are in the saloon area and have a sleek new design. On top of that there are another 4 fixed hull windows, two in the forward v-berth and two in the saloon adding to the pleasant atmosphere down below.

These improvements are not the only new features to be included as standard on the new Bavaria 40 Cruiser. Many new and practical improvements have been made such as installing drawers under the forward v-berth for easier access to bedding and larger cockpit locker lids to make storing your gear that much easier. The chefs of the boating world will also be pleased with the inclusion of a 12 volt microwave and extra pantry storage as standard.

Initially available in a three cabin version with a private head forward and large head with stand up shower aft, the Bavaria 40 Cruiser is certain to turn heads in 2008, and will be popular with families and entertainers alike. Wether you wish to cruise the Pacific or weekend with family and friends this yacht has the space and versatility to please the whole family.

To celebrate the 30 year success of Bavaria Yachts the factory has included a 30 year anniversary package on all boats 39 feet an above, including the new 40 Cruiser. This package includes auto pilot, chart plotter and safety equipment valued at $15,000 for only $4,500.

Available from April 2008 at a sail away price of $315,000 and with more volume and standard features than most of the competition, the Bavaria 40 Cruiser can look forward to a bright future on our shores.
