Never a Dull Moment heading north

Whales off Port Macquarie Colin Wilson
Back in race mode after a two year break, Colin and Denise Wilson were looking forward to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Sydney Gold Coast Race - and conditions were just right to do some testing and get back into racing condition.
Wilson reported from the race, ‘Denise is searching the boat for rabbits – we have to find some so we can pull one out of a hat. We were looking good for a while there, but then we made a major mistake, we took a leg into the coast and just about the whole fleet sailed passed us!’
However, sailing his aptly named MKL 49, Never a Dull Moment, just as the crew were feeling a little dejected with their circumstances, a pod of whales appeared, right on cue. ‘We couldn’t believe it and dashed below for the camera – and as the boat name suggests, there never is a dull moment on board,’ laughed Wilson.
‘I just hope we can make some of those places up, but at least we are having a good time and learning to sail a different boat after some adjustments were made – and we are eating really well and enjoying the sun.’
