NSW Police search for missing Shoalhaven Heads sailor

The NSW Police Force resumed resumed the search to find a lone yachtsman and his vessel after failure to arrive in Wollongong as was planned yesterday.
The 57-year-old sailor set sail from Port Hacking on his 23-foot yacht en route to Wollongong yesterday morning. Concerns are held for the man’s welfare due to the condition of the yacht which he has only recently purchased. The man’s friend notified police after attempts to contact him were unsuccessful and then he failed to arrive as scheduled. An extensive search was conducted last night by emergency services, however, the vessel was not located.
The search resumed this morning covering 1400 square nautical miles and utilising a number of police vessels and volunteers. . The 23-foot yacht is described as being in poor condition and is white with a beige deck.
However, it was called off when the searchers were notified the man had docked back at Port Hacking, but didn't tell anyone because his mobile phone had died.
