Sail-World.com : NSW Class/Crew Matching Day for youth 29ers, 420s, F11s and Lasers
NSW Class/Crew Matching Day for youth 29ers, 420s, F11s and Lasers

'NSW Class/Crew Match Racing Day'    David Price

It’s that time of the year where most of our youth sailors have competed in their various classes’ national championships and are now beginning their plans for next season so they can arrive in September with all guns blazing, many either with a new crew or in a new class altogether.

Looking for a crew/skipper, looking at a next class to sail and move in to, looking for a boat to buy or selling one? Then why not come along to the NSW Class and Crew Matching Day on 1st February; it’s a great opportunity not to be missed.

To assist NSW sailors who are transitioning between classes or sailors that are staying in a Yachting Australia recognised pathway class and looking for crew, the 29er, 420, Flying 11 and Laser (Radial) class associations have invited you to a ‘Class/Crew Matching Day’ being organised for all NSW youth sailors on Saturday 1st February at Middle Harbour from 1300hrs.

On the day you will be able to try out Laser Radials, F11’s, 420’s and 29ers with crews/helms that are seeking crewmates. There will also be some second hand boats for sale to assist people moving through from other classes.

A NSW Class/Crew Matching Day Facebook page has been set up by the classes in common and they encourage you to respond early with your attendance so that potential crewmates can be aware that you are attending. The registration form on this page will identify your needs for the organisers prior to your arrival so they can set you up directly with others on the day.

If you already have a boat and are looking for crew to sail with, complete the register form on the Facebook page as attending and bring your boat along to try new crew out.

The classes are receiving a lot of requests for assistance and knowing your thoughts will help them guide potential combinations.

If you are in this situation or would like to explore what is on offer we urge you to attend the Class/Crew Matching Day on the 1st February at Middle Harbour Yacht Club, The Spit, Parriwi Road, Mosman, Sydney. All the club’s facilities will be open and available on the day.
