Australian-based marine apparel brand Musto has again shown its support for the New Zealand sailing fraternity by inking a new deal to continue its sponsorship of the BMW Auckland Regatta Week (BARW).
The sponsorship will see the Sydney-headquartered brand work alongside event organisers the Auckland Regatta Trust to produce a unique licensed merchandise collection as part of its commitment as the event’s official clothing partner.
The announcement marks the fourth year in a row Musto has sponsored the Waitemata Harbour-based regatta, which this year takes place March 18 to 20. As with previous years, Musto has been awarded the exclusive rights to dress BARW 2011 skippers as well as staff and volunteers for the event’s duration.
The merchandise range, to be sold both onsite and via the websites of joint hosts the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, will feature long-sleeved T-shirts, polos and caps and is expected to go on sale within the next three weeks.
Available in sizes small to XXL for men and 8 to 16 for women, prices range from $NZ25 to $NZ250 with each garment in the range featuring the distinctive BAR branding.
Musto managing director Duncan Curnow said Musto was proud to continue its special relationship with the regatta and its strong supporter base and relished the opportunity to help support the future of keelboat sailing in New Zealand.
Event organiser Emily Flynn said: 'The Auckland Regatta Trust are delighted to continue the relationship with the prestigious clothing brand Musto and look forward to working on the 2011 BMW Auckland Regatta, Auckland’s premiere amateur sailing event.'
