The Melges 24 Italian Open Championship came to a close today in Marina di Scarlino, Tuscany. Eight races were sailed over the four days, in light winds from SW to WNW from five to ten knots. The Italian title went to Giogi (2-4-9-1-2-12-6-7) helmed by Matteo Balestrero, with former Melges 24 world champion Nicola Celon calling the tactics.
Second was Altea by Andrea Racchelli (CV Canottieri Intra, 10-3-29-3-1-6-6-6). Third Maidollis by Gianluca Perego (FV Desenzano), helmed by Giovanni Pizzatti and Niccolò Bianchi tactician (3-1-6-13-16-10-3-2). Fourth place for EFG Bank by swiss Chris Rast. First corinthian, and fifth overall, was Maitech by Claudio Ceradini helmed by Andrea Pardini. Thirty boats from eleven countries entered the event.
