Following two days and after five competitive races, the hierarchies of the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship are now becoming defined. Although it is impossible to choose a single favorite, it has become clear that the fight for the continental title involves the initial leader Blu Moon (today 1-5), the Italian Champion Matteo Balestrero aboard Giogi (3-2), who claimed the title Boat of the Day and is on equal points with the crew of the former World and European Champion Flavio Favini, and Audi Ultra (6-1), solid winner of the fifth race.

These are the crews who, during the races already sailed, showed consistency, excellent performance and the unquestioned ability to recover from apparently compromising situations, even in challenging weather conditions such as those that have characterised the opening days of the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship.

The standing of this leading group is strengthened by the almost twenty points that separating them from the Czechs of ICZ (5-13), fourth in the standings ahead of Norwegian Storm Capital Sail Racing (9-20) and of Estonian Lenny (16-25), today less brilliant than usual but still good enough to confirm themselves as continuing leader of the Corinthian fleet.

The two races held today in Medemblik served Andrea Racchelli's Altea well, after the dnf scored in the last race yesterday, they scored a second and a third and once the discard comes into play after tomorrow's sixth race they can expect to climb from sixteenth position into the top five.

The Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship, organised by the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia in collaboration with the International Melges 24 Class Association, will resume tomorrow morning at 10:30. The weather bulletins are unanimous in announcing a marked decrease of the breeze, a situation which, if confirmed, would complicate the lives of tacticians and helmsmen reshuffling the cards on the table.
