Melbourne to Vanuatu - Tidetech winner announced!
|
As of Tuesday, June 15, there are just 19 days left until the start of the Melbourne to Vanuatu yacht race on July 4, 2010. So it's very fitting then, that only a few days ago, Angus Fletcher won the 12-month subscription from Tidetech, which was timed to be the grand finale as part of the last of the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria's Long Distance Offshore Seminar Series. Angus is the studious type of Navigator, so his new Tidetech prize is indeed bound to be very well used, over the ensuing 12 months. ‘It's a very generous contribution from Tidetech and much appreciated. It's a marvellous excuse to get the HF organised to download data, so we can have Tidetech running at its full potential for the Melbourne to Vanuatu race', he said. ‘Their package looks very comprehensive and it will certainly also be an extremely useful tool for races later in the year, particularly the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, which we plan to do on the way home from Vanuatu, just as we did in 2006. There's no doubt that the best time to do that race, is when you've got to go past Sydney on your way home from somewhere.'
 | Tidetech’s Penny Haire presents Angus Fletcher with his access codes for his 12-month free subscription to Tidetech - ORCV Melbourne to Vanuatu - John Curnow - copyright | Before making the presentation, Penny Haire from Tidetech explained in detail how their product works, what the underlying and very impressive technology provides for, along with the benefits of utilising this sensational software. The more technologically proficient members of the audience were in awe and the less so inclined, had no trouble grasping the main concept - How to win races! Provisioning was one of the other subjects of the evening and Robyn Brooke came armed with samples, which was always going to be a hit. Nick Grogan, from Easyfoods, supplied some samples and talked about his product. There was also some other product from Hungerbusters, which was sampled in a simper way. Absolutely nobody went home hungry, which is always a good thing. As an interesting aside, Easyfoods provided the food for a certain tickled pink teenager to assist her get around the globe, just recently. So it seems very appropriate that to finish off the entirely successful ORCV Long Distance Offshore Seminar Series, we give a big thank you to Greg, Penny and the all the Tidetech team for their support, efforts and involvement. We look forward to having you onboard as a regular ORCV partner - Cheers.
