David Wood and his winning team - MRX Championships 2013 brian trubovich
Over a weekend of somewhat testing conditions in the Northern Leading region, David Wood and his team on boat 2001 took out a very close contest.
Nine boats took part and many of those teams enjoyed the opportunity to do well in a race, given the variable nature of the wind direction and speed, which never exceeded 8 knots.
Harry Dodson and his experienced team on boat 1992 took second place, while Peter Waters and his ace team finished in third place.
The event was capably run by the Ponsonby Cruising Club, which served as home base for the after sailing socials.
Boats used their championship sails, which ensured that the boat speed was very even between the boats, and it was great to see all 9 boats come off the start line in a tight formation. If this regatta is anything to go by, the class is in extremely good shape, and represents the best opportunity to have great and even class racing.
