London Olympics 2012 - Australians in action on day 9 + Video

On day 9 of sailing competition at the London Olympics Tom Slingsby will race for gold in the Laser class on Monday, with the final medal race to take place at 2pm (UK) time on the Nothe spectator course.

Slingsby takes a 14 point lead over Cypriot Pavlos Kontides into the final race and is guaranteed at least a silver medal.

Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen are contest their final two 49er fleet races ahead of Tuesday’s decider.

470 men’s crew Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page will be back in action and looking to increase their lead.

Australian Results from Sunday:
49er – Nathan Outteridge & Iain Jensen – 1/1 – 44 points – first overall
470 women – Elise Rechichi & Belinda Stowell – 9/7 – 40 points – seventh overall
RS:X Women – Jessica Crisp – 13/13– 96 points – 11th overall
470 men – Mathew Belcher & Malcolm Page – no racing today
Laser – Tom Slingsby – no racing today
Women’s Match Racing – Olivia Price, Nina Curtis & Lucinda Whitty – no racing today

Aussies in action on Monday:
Laser – Tom Slingsby – medal race – 2pm – Nothe Course
470 men – Mathew Belcher & Malcolm Page – Races 7/8, 12pm – Weymouth Bay West
49er – Nathan Outteridge & Iain Jensen – Races 14/15, 3pm – Weymouth Bay West
470 women and Women’s Match Racing have no racing on Monday

Weather for Monday:Fine and partly cloudy. WSW winds strengthening to 15/20 knots during the afternoon. Max: 18C
