Sail-World.com : Light winds for penultimate day Skandia Cowes Week
Light winds for penultimate day Skandia Cowes Week

Today could be one of the lightest days we've seen so far at this year's Skandia Cowes Week.

According to weather expert Chris Tibbs a west to north-westerly air stream with a band of showers will cross southern England this morning but will pass to the east of us. A ridge of high pressure is pushing in from the west and we will see the effect of this, this afternoon and evening.

This means we could see a few showers this morning with a light west to north-west breeze up to 13kts. The wind will however, decrease later and back to the south-west. There is a 50 per cent chance of a sea breeze from the south-west.

The good news is the outlook is for a clear sky tonight for the Fireworks display and, of course, the Red Arrows who'll be turning up at at 7.30. Any cloud should be fairly high and there'll be a gentle breeze. Perfect.
