The 2013 Lexus Lincoln Regatta Week had a rather relaxing day on the water for the third day of competition. The Wednesday race is traditionally a short race to Spalding Cove where everyone meets for an event known as ‘Megga’s Barbecue’.

‘Megga’ was a very charismatic figure in Port Lincoln and the traditional barbecue event that happened even when Megga was alive still continues to this day.

The racing, cruising, trailerable and multi-hull divisions only completed their second race for the regatta after the first day was abandoned and a long race on the second day.

The Sydney 38’s had their fourth race of the regatta, which is also doubling as their state titles.

The day provided some quality racing as well as an excellent social atmosphere on the beach of Spalding Cove.

A big thank you must go out to the Port Lincoln Rotary Club who organised the barbecue and also to the staff of the Port Lincoln Yacht Club who made sure things ran smoothly once everyone had arrived in Spalding Cove.

‘Secret Men’s Business’ skippered by Geoff Boettcher was able to make it back on the water after a torn mainsail on Tuesday and was the first boat to arrive in Spalding Cove after a sound race and a convincing victory.

‘Secret Men’s Business’ won the race on IRC as well as PHS, putting them back in the hunt for championship honours as the end of the regatta approaches.

‘Scarlet Runner’ skippered by Robert Date arrived at the destination second however finished in third place on IRC, with ‘Aikin’ skippered by Cailin Howard taking out second.

The Sydney 38’s had a single windward return race and ‘Chutzpah 38’ skippered by Bruce Taylor was able to win it. ‘White Knight’ skippered by David Knights came in second and ‘Shining Sea’ skippered by Andrew Corletto finished in third.

As we near the end of the regatta, the stage is set for an exciting finish with many boats fighting it out for championship honours in their respective divisions.

All divisions are scheduled for three races on the final day (Thursday) and we look forward to seeing how the regatta will unfold.
