This week offers a diverse bunch of stories, from the launch of South African cat brand, Leopard, now basing its Australian operations in Brisbane, to the worldwide search for footage of the Australian victory in the Americas Cup in 1983, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the now legendary event (which by the way, was nominated the country’s most memorable sporting victory in a Sydney Morning Herald reader poll).
There’s a plethora of boat shows ahead, including Genoa, IBEX and Fort Lauderdale in October, METS and Emirates in November and then Auckland in March 2009, before the circuit begins all over again.
Then there’s the online version, with the launch of Boatsplus.com.au, the first 'online boat show', which is now aceesible via Powerboat-World and Sail-World where consumers can experience a one-stop-shop to browse, review and compare new boats, motor yachts, jet skis, outboards and inboard engines. Check it our for yourself.
And finally, praise for industry stalwart, Club Marine, announcing sponsorship of the Coastcare organization, supporting a raft of initiatives aimed at restoring or protecting endangered species and vulnerable locations around the country.
Club Marine CEO, Mark Bradley said the company will support the 60,000 selfless volunteers who work tirelessly to protect our magnificent but fragile beaches, harbours and bays, specifically by providing financial support and insurance for boats involved in five of Coastcare’s projects.
It’s refreshing to see practical contributions to the environment, without which no marine business would exist.
