Laser North American Championship commences in Kingston

The Laser North American Championships get underway today with 270 boats competing on the waters of Kingston Harbour. The Laser Radial and Laser Standard classes include Canadian and US National Team sailors as well as Olympians.
David Wright of Canada, Rob Crane of USA and Andrew Lewis of Trinidad competed at the 2012 Olympic Games. These are joined by Canadian National Team members Lee Parkhill, Robert Davis, Evert McLaughlin, and Tom Ramshaw.
In the Radial fleet, Canadian National Team members Brenda Bowskill, Ingrid Merry and Claire Merry will be matching skills against the up and coming female and male competitors.
Racing starts with a qualifier series today and tomorrow, with final race series Saturday and Sunday. A total of 11 races are scheduled.
80 Race Officers and volunteers from across Canada and the USA will be manning the two race courses and shore
