Kieler Woche welcomes Multihulls in Offshore program

Kieler Woche will see for the first time the Multihulls compete in the Offshore program. All racing and performance-cruiser Multihulls are invited to sail the legendary race between the centre of Kiel and the nice town of Eckernförde.

The area in which the race program is to take place is considered as one of the most beautiful sailing areas in Northern Germany and is connected to the biggest maritime festival of North. The program is a wonderful opportunity to present Multihull Sailing to a big audience. We have three million visitors in ten days each year at Kieler Woche and 10+ TV Stations.

This Race is the opening of the Kieler Woche 2011 and the start will be followed by thousands of spectators and German media. It is an offshore distance race between Kiel City and Eckernförde City and approximately 45 miles each way.

Welcome Race to Eckernförde (18th June):

Start: 9:30h, Saturday, 18. June in front of the Kieler Yacht club inner fjord of Kiel. Finish: In front of the Harbour of Eckernförde, Prize giving at 19:30h in Eckernförde.

Welcome Race back to Kiel ( 19th June):

Start: 12h, Sunday, 19. June in front of the Harbour of Eckernförde, Finish: Kiel-Light-tower inner Kiel fjord, Prize Giving: 19:30h Event Center at Olympic Centre Kiel-Schilksee.

Entry:

Racing and Performance Cruiser Multihulls between 24 and 60 Foot can enter. We sail under modified Texel Rating. Boats must fulfil the Int. Offshore sailing rules and carry safety Equipment during Racing.

Classes:
Open Division -Where we count all boats without Handicap Rules.

Handicap/Rating Division where we use a proven Multihull handicap system based on Texel Rating for all boats who have a rating. Event website

Team Maclaren fifth at 2011 Kieler Woche
Team Maclaren finished fifth in this year's Kieler Woche Regatta. eam Maclaren finished fifth in this year's Kieler Woche Regatta. We lost the quarterfinals 2-3 to Nicky Souter (AUS). We sailed the consolation round race-offs for five-eighth overall and won our two races to take fifth.

Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page of Australia have recorded their sixth race victory at Kieler Woche 2011. Kieler Woche 2011 has witnessed Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page of Australia perform impeccably in the Men's 470 on Day 3. The duo recorded their sixth race victory out of eight.

Kieler Woche 2011 Day 3 Finn domination
Kieler Woche 2011 has seen Zach Railey (USA) take the overall Finn lead after eight races on the third day in Germany Zach Railey (USA) dominated the third day of racing at Kieler Woche 2011, taking the overall lead in the Finns with two race wins. Two more races are scheduled for Tuesday with the final race and the medal race for the top 10 on Wednesday.

Kieler Woche 2011's second day have witnessed three more races for the Finn class. Three more races were sailed on Day 2 of Kieler Woche 2011 for the Finn class, with Jonathan Lobert (FRA) maintaining his overall lead from Zach Railey (USA) and Ed Wright (GBR), moving up one spot into third place.
