Race 5 of the Winning Group JJ Giltinan International saw Rag & Famish Hotel make all the right decisions, both in the rigging park, and on the No. 3 SE race Course.

With Rag opting for its big rig, and both Gotta Luv it 7 and Thurlow Fisher Lawyers going with their small rigs Once on the start line it was very clear that the big rigs were advantaged, especially on the downwind legs, and the two sail reach to Chowder Bay.

Normally, the fleet follow each other in rig selection but yesterday, the Rag crew, Jack McCartney, Mark Kennedy, and the wily David Witt looked very confident and had the big mast in early and the atmosphere in the park buzzed with crews rushing rigging and questions flying.

Rag crossed first, the on water spectators applauded Rag's effort, Smeg, Nick Press, Dan Phillips, and Gill Ewings with a big rig crossed second, and Yandoo, John Woody Winning, Jim Beck, and Andrew Noddy Hay with a big, crossed third, the spectators loved it. Gotta Luv it 7 crossed in fourth and Thurlow Fisher Lawyers crossed seventh after leading and then capsizing when second to Rag.

With two rounds left in this seven round fight, expect the gloves to come off for Heat 6 on Saturday with a fresh to frightening forecast....Rag and 7 are tied on points, with Thurlow needing to win both rounds if they are to become JJ Champions and need the two leaders to faulter..... a very interesting two races indeed.

Pick the Podium...... Our winner, Paul Johnson came from the hat for Heat 5. Paul had two correct with Rag and Smeg.....no one picked Yandoo yesterday. Paul wins a cool pair of www.barzoptics.com
