Race 1 of the JJ Giltinan Trophy was sailed in light winds on Sydney Harbour on Monday afternoon

The race was due to start at 3.00pm Sydney time, being the resail of Saturday's race.

3.00pm The start is initially went to a postponement but settled down to a NE course with light conditions again prevailing on Sydney Harbour, with overcast skies.

3.30pm Racing is about to get underway after the course was shifted.

Mark 1 At the first mark, Asko led from Sydney City Marine with Thurlow Fisher in third. The boats which flipped onto port early did not come out well, including Mojo Wines and Kitchen Maker did not fare so well initially, but recovered later in the leg.

Mark 2 The course has been changed to 050 (NE). Asko and Haier led from Thurlow Fisher, sailing in a 12-13kts breeze with the big rigs. Gotta Love It 7 was fourth, with Sydney City Marine fifth an Yamaha NZ in sixth.

Mark 3 Asko led from Haier (GBR) with Gotta Love It 7 in third. Sydney City is fourth, Appliances Online, Yamaha and Knight Frank.

Mark 4 Thurlow Fisher got through Asko just after rounding Mark 4, and took the lead. But with increased pressure coming out of Watson's Bay Asko got onto Thurlow's hip and looked set to cut the corner for a while.

Lap 3 At the end of lap 3 at the bottom mark, Thurlow Fisher had a handy lead from Asko. The left hand side of the course having paid a dividend on the beat. Asko was well behind, and with Gotta Love It 7 close behind. Haier (GBR) was in fourth, with Mojo fifth and Yamaha sixth. The gaps had started to open at the front of the fleet, and unless there were big shifts and no covering places would only change in a minor way.

The crews have a windward and run to the finish left on the course.

At the top end Gotta Love It 7 came out of the left, picked her lines, just right and flipped onto starboard just in time to get a shift plus a bit of pressure to lead going into the final run.

After a couple of gybes, Seve Jarvin, Gotta Love It 7, picked up some good pressure and had three on the wire heading straight down Sydney Harbour, and looked set to take her second win of the series.

Thurlow Fisher was in second and picked the northern side of the harbour. Both leaders ran into varying pressure, and looked very soft at times, struggling to get down the course while holding their crews on the wire.

At the bottom Jarvin got across the bow of Thurlow Fisher, only to be attacked by a fast recovering Asko.

At the finish it was Gotta Love It 7, followed by Thurlow Fisher with Asko third.
