JJ Giltinan Invitational Race goes to the Kiwis as Auckland's Alex Vallings on C-Tech gave the rest of the fleet a lesson in starting practice for the main event which starts on Saturday.
After three general recalls, including a Black Flag in the third attempt, Vallings saw the pin end unattended and just for good measure port tacked the fleet for a clean getaway. The race was sailed in eight to 10 knots over a course six which Gary Linacre decided was the best option. Taylor Bay to Watsons Bay with four laps.
The C-Tech crew had to fight off Gotta Luv it 7, and Mojo Wines throughout the race but eventually got the better of the opposition to go on to an easy victory.
