JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiffs: Moderate breeze for Day 4 - PredictWind
|
A moderate breeze is predicted for the fourth race of the 64th JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff Championship being sailed on Sydney Harbour PredictWind is showing a breeze peaking at a 15kt average about the same as yesterday but with it coming from an ESE direction similar to the first two race of the regatta. Winds are shown as being a 13-15kts average meaning that the puffs will be a little higher, but as we have seen in previous there can big holes in the wind and significant changes in direction, caused by local issues. Using another feature of PredictWind, the realtime Observations, we can see that the breeze at Sydney Airport was 10kts average at 09.30am, and that the current direction is close to what is predicted by PredictWind. For the rest of the week, winds are expected to increase to 19kts by the week end when the final two races will be sailed. This prognosis has been based on a reference point in the centre of Sydney Harbour, and will obviously vary on the edges of the course
