Flags from all the countries flying on the way out to the course - J24 world championship Clarity Nicoll
Today was the start of the J24 world championships in Rochester, New York. The championship runs until September 21st. There are 95 competitors from Canada, United States, Barbados, Peru, Italy, Chile, France, Bermuda, Japan, Argentina, Germany and Brazil.
Sail-world.com is present and competing in the event. Stay tuned all week for stories about competitors and links to results, pictures and tracking information.
Today’s racing including two 5-leg races, each about 2 hours. Winds were oscillating in velocity and very shifty.
A very valid attempt was made to hold a third race since weather predictions for tomorrow are stormy with very high winds. Canada doing quite well in the races, with Drivers Wanted from Port Credit Yacht Club in Mississauga, Ontario who is currently in second place.
Sadly, this reporter had to write a college essay and barely made it to the free pasta bar that was available for all the competitors. Time to get ready for more racing tomorrow. Signing off.
Keep Sailing!!!
