At the International Vila de Palamós Optimist Trophy, it was a great day of racing. A Garbí S –SW wind, 15 to 25 knots blew today in the bay and the fleet managed to complete the three races scheduled in a tough day for competitors.
Spanish sailor Albert Torres (RCN Palma) has shown his authority and leads the overall standings after winning two of the three races sailed today.
The other two places of the podium are also for Spain with Albert Gelpí (CN El Balís) in second place followed by Pablo Luján (CN Javea). France, USA, Germany and Great Britain are also among the top ten classified.
The International Vila de Palamós Optimist Trophy has 378 sailors from 22 nations split in three groups. Three races are also scheduled for tomorrow after which the fleet will be split on Sunday into groups gold, silver and bronze.
