International German Championship - RubiX victorious

Youth from the X 332 'RubiX' were already victorious in the International German Championship Offshore at Helgoland this year and again demonstrated again their strength, the crew with skipper Max Gurgel (HSC) has now taken the second victory at the Kiel Week, displacing last year’s Inshore German Champion ‘Patent3’ with Juergen Klinghardt/Jens Tschentscher.

'I really hope, this is marking the generation change', said Klinghardt (Luebeck), being a good and fair looser, 'We urgently need youngsters in this class, the best would be more of this kind.'

Just like at Helgoland for the Offshore German Championship, Klinghardt again became second. Gurgel was very happy about the second victory, planning to celebrate with the whole crew pool of 20 young sailors in Kiel Schilksee. 'We have 20 sailors in the HSC team', said Gurgel, 'We only need more boats.' Although they only had a low budget, they were successful, 'we sleep on the boat and in the car.' They will not make it to the Worlds in Helsinki; that is too difficult with the logistics.

For Klinghardt, Helsinki will be the highlight of the season. Although it might be pretty tough to get the second gold medal at the Worlds in 2010 competing against 80 other boats. In ORC II division, no one could beat Patrick Forsgren from Sweden with his First 36.7 'Team Arken Zoo'. Two times winner overall at the end of the time meant one more in the overall ranking than for the winner of the previous year 'BM-Yachting' (First 35) from Peter Beck Mikkelsen, who had the same point score.

Remaining unbeaten, Audi Sailing Team with sailing legend Jochen Schuemann won the Kiel Cup in ORC I Kieler Woche website
