Interclubs and Press Race - Mitsubishi to the front on day 2

by Soto 40 Media on 9 Nov 2014
Mitsubishi - Interclubs and Press Race 2014, Day 2 Rodrigo Aljaro
The Interclubs and Press Race continued today at the Cofradía Náutica del Pacífico with three races that allowed Horacio Pavez’s Mitsubishi to climb to the top position overall in a championship where nothing is yet decided.

The Algarrobo Bay awarded the competitors with another great sports day, with a 10 to 13 knot SW wind that enabled the boats to complete three windward-leeward courses of four legs.

The first race of the day started after 1pm with a 10 knot wind. Mitsubishi’s team managed to take the leadership in the first upwind and crossed the finish line first position, adding its second victory. Bernardo Matte’s Pisco Black, Jorge Araneda’s Santander and Dag Von Appen’s Itaú arrived after it.

In the second race - fifth of the event - Santander’s crew was the one to take the lead during the entire course. However, the team was disqualified apparently because of a mistake in a mark. So Itaú achieved the first position, while Mitsubishi and Pisco Black finished third and fourth, respectively.

Itaú also added a victory in the last race of the event, result that helped it to get closer to the first position overall. With 14 units, Dag Von Appen’s boat has one more point than Mitsubishi, leader of the championship. Santander is third position with 15 points, while Pisco Black is fourth place with 19 units.

Partial results:

1° Acuario / Mitsubishi – Horacio Pavez – 1/4/2/1/2/3 – 13 pts.
2° Macaco / Itau – Dag Von Appen – 2/2/4/4/1/1 – 14 pts.
3° Santander – Jorge Araneda – 3/1/1/3/5(DSQ)/2 – 15 pts.
4° Pisco Black – Bernardo Matte – 4/3/3/2/3/4 – 19 pts.

The Interclubs and Press Race, third date of Chile’s prestigious 2014-2015 National Oceanic Championship, will come to its end tomorrow with the last races of the event that will have real-time transmission available on our website. First warning signal is scheduled at 12 pm CLST.
