McConaghy Boats has announced the inaugural MC 38 Australian Championship which is set to take place in Pittwater, Sydney this October. The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club is home to the first three MC 38s in Sydney and is very excited to be hosting the event.
Watching the MC38’s competing against one another you know that we are in for a very exciting Regatta. The MC38s have brought a new energy to the club, it’s great to see how enthusiastic everyone is about these stunning boats' said Richard Hudson (past Commodore RPAYC).
The first MC 38 Nationals will see at least five Sydney based boats joined by interstate owners, and it is highly likely that International Owners will be transporting their boats to Sydney for the event.
Richard Slater, BMW Oracle Rules Advisor and contributor of the AC45 and AC72 Rules, was commissioned to write the rules for the MC38 One Design Class. His brief was clear – create a fun and exciting class, keeping things simple and eliminate the arms race, this has been well and truly achieved. With input from current owners, the rules have been finalised and will be published on the new MC38 One Design class association web site in the coming weeks.
Jono Morris, McConaghy MD, is delighted at the progress of the class in its first year 'The first MC38 made its first splash in Sydney back in September 2011; it is fantastic to already be in a position to announce the first One Design regatta. Sales continue to grow both here and overseas and we are very pleased with how the class is developing. What is most rewarding though is to see how much enjoyment the owners and crew get from sailing these exciting new boats'
