ISAF Sailing World Cup - Qingdao continues legacy

In just two months, the inaugural Asian ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta will commence in Qingdao, China marking the start of the 2013-2014 series. Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre will welcome the best Olympic sailing talent from around the world continuing the legacy after the venue played host to a memorable Olympic Sailing Competition in 2008.

Six of the ten Olympic events, Laser, Laser Radial, Men's and Women's 470 and Men's and Women's RS:X will be on show at ISAF Sailing World Cup Qingdao with 180,000USD prize money spread across the fleets.

Charter boats are available in the four dinghy events at a reduced rate of 50% off the fee in the Notice of Race whilst generous travel funds are available for the windsurfers.

With 200-points available towards sailors ISAF World Sailing Ranking, the entrants already include 2013 Women's 470 World Champions and London 2012 Olympic gold medallists Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie (NZL) as well as Cyprus' first ever Olympic medallist Pavlos Kontides and world number one Tom Burton (AUS) in the Laser.

Racing in Qingdao begins on 14 October through to 19 October and along with the four other ISAF Sailing World Cup venues, Melbourne, Miami, Mallorca and Hyeres, the regatta will adopt the following race format:

Schedule
Two day Qualification Series, three day Final Series with concluding final day Medal Race

Number of races
Two races per day for Laser, Finn and 470
Three races per day for skiffs, boards and multihull

One Medal race (10 boats for all classes)

Scoring
Zero points for first.
Double points Medal Race, non discardable.
