ISAF Sailing World Championships Test event Notice of Race published

The Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships Test event, Ciudad de Santander Trophy, set to be held in the Bay of Santander from 9-15 September 2013, will welcome sailors across the ten Olympic events for the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition.

The Organising Authority is the Real Federación Española de Vela (RFEV) in conjunction with the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).

Each ISAF Member National Authority (MNA) is entitled to one Priority Entry in each event with the event quota able to be increased to allow each MNA at least one entry. Additional entries will be accepted until the quotas have been filled.

The ISAF Sailing World Championships is the principal qualification event for the Olympic Sailing Competition. Only the events and equipment included in the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition are included in the programme of the Championships.

Santander, Spain will host the fourth edition of the ISAF Worlds out of the Prince Felipe High Performance Sailing Centre (CEAR), a fully equipped facility that is home to the Spanish Olympic Sailing Team, and the Royal Yacht Club of Santander. Both venues feature excellent facilities for sailors, closeness to the city and excellent public access.

One of the main hallmarks of the city of Santander is its Bay, which is considered to be one of 'the most beautiful bays in the world' and the most important on the Bay of Biscay.
