'2012 IOM European Championship'
Dean Miculinic
On day six of the IOM European Championship, from early on in the morning, the weather did not look promising enough. After the fog cleared, a bright sun made its appearance and with it came some breeze. Not for long though, since only the heats up to C got to race and then the wind died again.
So the competitors found some time to relax from the busy scheduled of the previous days with 11 races being sailed so far. Another stream of wind finally came after a couple of hours that allowed the race committee to finish with the Heat sequence for the 11th race and quickly move to the sequence for the 12th race.
Although the wind had the upper hand again and the 12th race stopped at heat B, leaving for tomorrow heat A to be completed. Tomorrow is also the last day of the event that it’s been very successful so far. Everyone here looks very satisfied with the quality of racing and the high level with competitors coming here from 20 different countries all around the World.
On the top of the leaderboard is still UK’s Brad Gibson that now has a safe lead of 15 points and the possibilities of losing first place are slim. In second place passed Croatia’s Zvonko Jelacic that finished second in today’s only race and left the other Briton, Graham Elliott in third. Nonetheless Jelacic is only one point ahead of Elliott and everything is going to be decided tomorrow.
