IFDS World Championships 2014 set for Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron

The International Disabled Sailing Association is set to host it's IFDS World Championships at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, August 2014.

RNSYS is home to Canadian Gold Medal Paralympian Paul Tingley who has recently moved from the 2.4mR class to the Sonar Class with team mates Logan Campbell and Scott Lutes.

The event is a multi class event, seeing all paralympic fleets competeing including the Sonar, Skud and 2.4mR

C. Thomas Clagett Regatta - Coaching clinic kicks off 15th Clagett
The first day of the four day regatta is the clinic day, where all the sailors are able to work with the coaching team On a picture perfect Summer day in Newport RI, the 2.4mR and Sonar sailors in town for the 15th C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta converged on Sail Newport in Fort Adams State Park. The first day of the four day regatta is the clinic day, where all the sailors are able to work with the coaching team to learn and refine skills and techniques before the three days of racing.

Para World Sailing Championships – What a difference a day makes
Only the Open 2.4 Norlin OD, One Person Keelboat, managed to sail, and they completed one race in variable 5-16 knot The day had a bit of everything. There were grey skies, heavy showers and no breeze in the morning. Moving into the afternoon, a sudden sunny spell was coupled with a heavy breeze, gusting up to 25 knots. The breeze declined as the afternoon played out before dropping off completely and bringing another rain shower to put an end to the day.

Light wind specialists shine at the Para World Sailing Championships
Light wind, tactical specialists came to the forefront on the opening day, as a challenging breeze tested the sailors. Two races were completed in the Open 2.4 Norlin OD, Men's Hansa 303 and Women's Hansa 303, all One Person Keelboats open to classified sailors with minimum disabilities.

39 nations ready to race at the Para World Sailing Championships
Germany's Heiko Kroger warmed up for the world championships by taking gold at the Open 2.4 competition Paralympic medallists, world champions, offshore sailors and sailors from eight new nations will race in the Open 2.4 Norlin OD as well as the Men's Hansa 303 and Women's Hansa 303 fleets during the famous Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) sailing festival.

138 teams compete at Cleveland Race Week One-Design Weekend
Eleven fleets competed on four race circles, with three of those fleets vying for a championship win. The regatta started on Thursday for the Star Class, with four countries represented and 31 boats on the line looking to earn the title of Star Western Hemisphere Champion.
