Hugo Boss lifted out of the water for repairs

Hugo Boss Skipper Alex Thomson after the incident .. .
The team from Alex Thomson Racing have been working around the clock since the collision with a French fishing vessel on Friday (17/10/08). The full technical team from Alex Thomson Racing have been drafted in to help get Alex and Hugo Boss to the start line.

Hugo Boss was lifted out of the water into the commercial dock in Les Sables d'Olonne on Saturday and the keel removed. The mast was recovered on Friday evening, the top section was lifted from the sea bed by divers and both sections are now on land. All the sails were recovered and remarkably were undamaged.

Norbert Sedlacek completes the Vendee Globe and sets a new record

Norbert Sedlacek set a new ocean racing record for landlocked nation when he became the first Austrian to complete a solo non stop round the world passage when he finished the epic sixth edition of the Vendée Globe in 11th place.

Rich Wilson nears Vendee Globe finish line
Rich Wilson is in ninth position of this edition of the Vendée Globe, only the second American to complete the race Rich Wilson (Great American 111) will arrive in ninth position of this edition of the Vendée Globe, being the lone American of this race and only the second to complete the Vendée Globe. With 160 miles direct to Les Sables d’Olonne, in fact closer to 180 miles as he is sailing downwind, Rich Wilson is now expected to finish his Vendée Globe in the early afternoon of Tuesday.
