Hobie Class upcoming 2011 worldwide events

The International Hobie Class Association has announced exciting Hobie events taking place in locations around the world for 2011.

The events include: North American Championships 2011, Hobie Europeans 2011, Hobie 16 Asian Championships 2011, Brazil Hobie Cat Championships 2011, Australina Hobie Nationals 2011, Tanzacat 2011, Fiji Hobie Challenge and Oceanic Challenge 2011, and the launching of the Tiwi Trophy 2011.

The Hobie Europeans web site has the Notice of Race, online entry form, accommodation and lots more information.

As always the Hobie Europeans is a high quality Hobie event and it should not be missed.

Lake Neusiedl and its countryside are well known for their hospitality and friendliness. An area rich of wineries and nice people will be our hosts in 2011. I could personally check the area already in 2007 and again in 2011 and can tell you, that this is an excellent venue.

Warm water and warm air temperatures are perfect hosts to make an event like the Hobie MultiEuropeans again a memorable event that the world will talk about!

Smooth grass areas for both, boats and tents just situated at the beaches of Lake Neusiedl will make it easy to run an event like this.

A bar and restaurant at the yacht club will be good for the Après-Sailing-Time. The dealer being just close by and ready for support.

Also the accompanying families will meet their advantages – lots of things to do, a swimming area close by with a nice playground, nice countryside, perfect for taking a ride on the bicycle or the train station that will take you in less than an hour to downtown Vienna – a site perfect for your vacation and Hobie Life!


Tanzacat 2011
Tanzacat 2011 dates have been announced 2-11 September. This world acclaimed event has included the Zanzibar Raid. With a limited number of brand new Hobie Tiger and Hobie 16 (that is right brand new charter boats available) this is another Hobie event not to miss. Tanzacat website

Hobie 16 Asian Championships 2011
Hobie 16 Asian Championships is announced for Weihai, China, September 6th to 14th. There are large range of FREE boats available that are in excellent condition.

The Weihai Government is putting a big effort into increasing Hobie sailing in China. It will be another spectacular event. The new host hotel is is offering rooms from 60USD per person per day. Everyone is invited from Asia and around the world.

This year we, Weihai Sports Bureau will cooperate with Hong Jian Real Estate to hold the Asian Championships. Here, we'd like to officially invite you to attend our event.

Compared with last year’s Hobie Worlds, our Asian Championships have all the characters as follows:

1. Cheaper Entry Fee. This year we will only have category 'open', which is open more to the sailors and sailing enthusiasts. You can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery and hospitality of Weihai people. The entry fee is much cheaper.

(1) The entry fee for Asian Championships Open is US$150/boat (by Aug. first).
(2) National Championships Open is 150CNY/boat (by Aug. first). You could choose between the two categories. Click here for NOR

2. Sound Accommodation. In order to provide better service, and better communication between sailors and officials, our official hotel is designated as Zhonghui Hotel. It’s only five minutes’ walk to the sailing venue. It costs US$60 head/day. You could pay on site. Zhonghui Hotel will cater to different sailors and give you the best energy to compete and enjoy!

3. No Charter fees.

4. Warm Service. Weihai Municipal Government has paid a lot of attention to this event. A big amount of resources in human resources, finance and properties have been applied to this event. Especially, our Organizing Committee and volunteers will serve you warmly with better effort to ensure a wonderful trip in Weihai!

Hobie Fleet 252 in Suva, Fiji conducted an introduction to Hobie sailing. From that they have 25 new Hobie members all signed up.

Well done to Hobie Fleet 252 for assisting the local community in Suva. It is encouraging to see a Hobie Fleet assisting the local villages. Giving people who would normally never have an opportunity to sail the chance to sail and importantly sail a Hobie.

You will need to enter and send money quickly as there are very few charter boats left.

Fiji has done a great job by having a introduction to sailing and have another 25 new members.

Some of the new members are from the local villages who normally would never have the opportunity to sail. Well done for increasing the Hobie sailing and for the community work.

XXXV Brazilian Hobie Cat 16 Championship and XXXIX Brazilian Hobie Cat 14 Championship have been announced October 29 – November 05, 2011. The host location Buzios, has been nominated as one of the top-10 most beautiful places in the world only two hours from Rio de Janeiro.

Australian Hobie Championship 2011
The Australian Hobie Championship has been announced at Mooloolaba, on Queensland’s famous Sunshine Coast. A world famous beach and holiday resort. One of the best sailing locations in the world with lots of accommodation and prices.

The Australian Hobie Cat National Championships 2011-2012 have been confirmed for Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland from 2nd January 2012 to the 6th January 2012.

Apart from being one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, Mooloolaba is also one of Australia’s premier Hobie Cat Racing venues and the scene of some of the biggest, best and brightest Hobie Cat regatta’s ever held in Australia. It has been a few years since a major regatta was held in Mooloolaba and anticipation is high for one of the largest and highest quality fleets ever.

The organising association, Queensland Hobie Cat Association, is also pleased to announce the continued support of long time sponsors Hobie Cat Australasia (HCA) and Hogs Breath Café for the event. HCA have indicated charter boats may be available for international crews.

An impressive sight of 10 M32 catamarans took to Biscayne Bay for the final event of the M32 Miami Winter Series this weekend. The event was rounded off in style as strong winds blew over the racecourse on Sunday allowing boats to fly at over 20knots. REV proved themselves as the team to beat this winter, skippered by Rick DeVos, winning both this final event and the overall Series title.
