Hebe Race Week 2011

Hebe Race Week 2010 Sara Houghton/HHYC
Happening right now (8-12 August) Hebe Haven Yacht Club is running the only family regatta in Hong Kong. This is the third year of running this fun-filled family-oriented event.

The emphasis of the week is to involve young people 6-18 years in fun sailing, with a series of races for the more competitive. Not only does the week involve an on-the-water programme, but also incorporates evening activities including BBQs, a talent night, and a pirate party to round off the week. On Wednesday there is a fun beach day where participants take a break from racing to get involved in beach games and BBQ, and of course parents are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of the week.

One of the things that separates this event from other activities is that parents are welcome to be a part of their children’s enjoyment by helping with all aspects of organizing the week including driving rescue boats, race management, water based games. They are also involved in organizing things onshore such as the evenings’ entertainment, Talent Night, which gives children and adults alike the chance to demonstrate their performing skills, which has proved to be a high light of the week in the past. This year’s prize giving party has a 'Pirate' theme to round the week off.

We encourage everyone, young and old to come and join in with the week either on or off the water. For more information have a look at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club website or contact 2719 0926
