With just days to go until the start of the final leg of the Global Challenge, planning the finish has gone into overdrive at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, the final port of call for the race with crowds expected to exceed 100,000.
The fleet leaves La Rochelle on the seventh and final leg of the race on Wednesday, 13th July. The firing cannon will signal the start at midday local time and the final furious sprint back to the UK will commence!
The yachts are expected to arrive back into their home port from midday onwards on Saturday 16th July, for what will undoubtedly be the most spectacular finish the race has ever seen.
A giant screen will update the crowds at Gunwharf and compères - from Gunwharf Quays to Southsea Castle - will be keeping spectators up to speed with the latest events in the battle for the overall title.
With many of the yachts still in contention for the coveted Princess Royal Trophy for the overall winner, the finish will no doubt prove a nail-biting conclusion to what has been an extraordinary race.
