The second day of racing in the Inshore Series of the 2014 Giraglia Rolex Cup proved troublesome, though ultimately rewarding, as the wind took some time to materialize sufficiently. When the wind did arrive at 13:00, it swung from the east to the south with alarming irregularity and peaked at 20 knots offering a challenging afternoon’s sailing for all crews.
British Mini Maxi Alegre turned the tables on yesterday’s race winner Ran 5 and finished the 19-nm course almost four minutes ahead, in a fraction under one hour 45 minutes, taking a class win on the water and on handicap.
Tonight the crews will enjoy some true tropézienne hospitality at the Rolex Crew Party before returning to action tomorrow for the third and final day of the Inshore Series.
