GP14 Northern Championship 2011 was held at Hollingworth Lake SC over the weekend of 21st and 22nd May. The Championship was won by Mike and Liz Senior.

This keenly contested event, in very windy and gusty conditions, attracted 30 entries and was the latest event in the Northern Bell Series. Martin Brennan and Alistair Knott, HLSC, finished sixth overall and now have a commanding lead with 61 points in the Northern Bell. They are the first to qualify ahead of Lee Thomas and Stuart Whiteside, Southport SC, (ninth overall) in their first season on the GP14 circuit with 47 points.

The prize giving for the 2010 season was held on Saturday night: Bill Kenyon and Ben Ditchburn, Budworth SC, were the worthy winners of an Omega Sails genoa as 2010 champions. Gareth Hughes (HLSC) won the Silver Fleet and Martin Stanley (WKSC) won Bronze, each received £30 in vouchers from 1st Mark. A draw was made to win a spinnaker donated by Neil Platt – each qualifier had one entry for each event attended – and Martin Stanley was the lucky recipient, a just reward for someone who has been such a great supporter of the Series. Bill thanked HLSC on behalf of the competitors for agreeing to host the prize giving and Neil Platt for his continued generous support of the Northern Bell. And then we all went back to the GP14 UK Class Association website

America's Cup - Scary video from today's collision between GBR and JPN
LRBAR's hull not been stopped by SBTJ's windward foil there would have been serious injuries aboard the Japanese boat. All I can say is that had LRBAR's hull not been stopped by SBTJ's windward foil there would have been serious injuries aboard the Japanese boat. Moreover, notwithstanding the damage done to Land Rover BAR's boat, there must be considerable damage to the dagger-foil case of SBTJ. Considerable.

Onboard Phaedo^3's Transpacific Course World Record run across Pacific
The past few years we have had a good share of success with at least one wrong turn in our racing program. When Brian Thompson and I were planning the Phaedo3 program we had a wish list of races and records which would be nice to attempt if we had a MOD70.
