On Saturday May 3rd, Britain's Ross Williams was crowned Formula Windsurfing World Champion in disputed evidence in Praia da Vitoria on Terceira Island, Azores. The Australian Stephen Allen and Argentine Gonzalo Hoevel were second and third, while Miguel Martin finished as the highest ranked among the Portuguese, occupying the 18th position.

Many nerves on the last day of the Formula Windsurfing World Championship because the first two were separated by just one point, and it was soon realized that the wind was missing on the final day of the race. The wind missed the call but the fleet of 43 participants had to wait on the ground for six long hours, until the Race Committee made the decision to cancel, Ross Williams of Britain won the title by adding five wins in 12 races and succeeds Dutch Casper Bouman, only ranked fifth in Azorean waters. The 'Aussie 'Stephen Allen finished second, one point behind winner and Argentine Gonzalo Hoevel, finished third.

Among the Portuguese, Miguel Martin was the highest ranking, finishing in 18th position. Bruno Bértolo occupied the 28th position, Vasco Chaveca was 31 and Mario Medeiros 33. Margarida Gil Morais was 36th, and first in the female sector. Marco Soveta finished in 38th. Marco Gil Morais in 40th, Mário Lima in 42nd place and John Vine was 43.

The Naval Club in Praia da Vitória is everything set for next Monday to start the World Cup slalom, which has 51 participants from 17 Formula Windsurfing website
