This weekend the build-up to the 35th America's Cup continues in Chicago, the 'Windy City'. Let's hope they get a full schedule of racing completed this time in conditions that really show the foiling AC45s in their best light. While the last event in New York attracted the crowds, it wasn't the greatest racing and the television schedule requirements certainly contributed to that.
Our New Zealand editor Richard Gladwell toured Core Builders Composites, Oracle Team USA's building facility based in Warkworth, to view the one-design parts for the AC50s which are currently under construction in New Zealand. This is the first time that we've been able to publish photos of America’s Cup yachts during their build. Read the two part story at www.sail-world.com/145233 and www.sail-world.com/145270
Rumours are circulating that the America's Cup may become biennial with a 'Cup class' of boat used throughout the America's Cup World Series - will this give some clarity to sailing's pinnacle event or dilute the significance of the 'Auld Mug'? Read more on this at www.sail-world.com/145357
Finally, Glenn Ashby of Emirates Team New Zealand had a little 'slip of the tongue' during one of the many press conferences ahead of Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Chicago, see this must-watch video at www.sail-world.com/145411
