Fleet is away at Audi Hamilton Island last race
by Rob Kothe on 25 Aug 2007
The final race, the Molle Island race at the 24th annual Hamilton Island Race Week/ Southerly 10-12 knots blowing up Dent Passage, with a tidal push for the divisions as they head north towards Plum Pudding island then round the corner buouy on Dent Island. First three divisions away cleanly.
Ray Robert's Cookson 50 Quantum started on the pin end and attempted to cross the fleet as Beau Geste did earlier in the week. While Quantum crossed the other 50 footers she had to fall in behind Bob Oatley's 66 footer Wild Oats and Steven David's Wild Joe.
Looking towards South Molle, there is a south south wester in the Cumberland Passage it looks like it will be a pure drag race with the IRC fleet likely to reach the Moll Passage without a gybe.
More soon.
