Extreme Sailing Series™ 2011 ninth and final Act is being held between 7th and 11th December in Singapore, where ten Extreme 40 teams will take to the water of Marina Bay. The iconic Singapore Flyer will provide a stunning backdrop to what will be a dramatic end of season match to claim the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Overall Championship.
Singapore is surrounded by many inland waterways, providing the series with a perfect setting for the last leg of the Extreme 40 fleet race. Coupled with the centralised location of Marina Bay, spectators will be spoiled with wonderful vantage points to get up close to all the action. The Extreme Race Village, open from 9 – 11 December, provides all-day entertainment for the spectator with activities for kids, arts and crafts stalls, live race commentary, music entertainment, food and beverage stalls and exciting on-water activities such as the NeilPryde Racing Series, Optimist and Moth sailing. Fans who were captivated by the Extreme 40s when they first made their appearance in Singapore in 2009 during the Asian tour will have lots to look forward to.
Since 2007, Extreme Sailing Series has become a benchmark in the sailing world, steadily growing and attracting the biggest names in the sports. Amongst them are international Olympic sailors, America´s Cups sailors and world champions Roman Hagara, Ian Williams, Leigh McMillian, Dean Barker, Tanguy Cariou and Sébastien Col to name a few.
Up to this point, it has been a close fight between Italian team Luna Rossa and the French Groupe Edmond De Rothschild with one point separating the two teams so anything can happen. Don’t miss out on the grand finale as the teams fight it out to win the prestigious championship of the Extreme Sailing Series.
