Etchells World Championship day 2 - No wind, no racing
|
Etchells World Championship, Howarth Yacht Club, Dublin Ireland, scheduled from 19th to 28th August. Windshifts and dropping winds forced the postponement of racing. After a three hour delay because of heavy north-westerly winds, the Etchells Worlds fleet prepared for a 16:00 start as the winds abated. Major wind shifts caused problems for PRO David Lovegrove and his team and the first scheduled start had to be aborted a minute before the gun because of one such wind shift. A fifteen minute postponement followed and then a heavy rain shower prevented a start before 17:00 hours. With the winds falling – and only five knots recorded at the windward mark – it was decided not to race today. The championship program has two races scheduled for Wednesday the 25th, the first starting at 11:00 hours. Event website click here
