Emirates Team New Zealand's TP 52 analyzed

Emirates Team New Zealand's TP52 just happened to be passing Peter Idoine's camera during a training jaunt in the Hauraki Gulf, and we present these shots to show some of the features of the TP52 class and this particular design by Marcelino Botín.
Emirates Team New Zealand was one of two TP52's launched this year in Auckland. Both were built by Cookson Boats, with rigs from Southern Spars and sails by North Sails NZ.

Cygnus Montanus is the first new build by Yachting Developments in four years. After starting her design life as a cafe racer, for a Swedish owner, she became orientated more towards ocean passages. She is a step up in size from the owners' previous yacht, of the same name, a Swan 77. Built in West Auckland, the hull, spars and sails all came from companies just a few kilometres apart.

America's Cup - Southern Spars to build AC50 for Emirates Team NZ
Southern Spars has been appointed to build Emirates Team New Zealand’s AC50 wingsailed foiling catamaran
One of the world's leading composite engineering companies, Southern Spars has been appointed to build Emirates Team New Zealand’s AC50 wingsailed foiling catamaran for the 35th America’s Cup campaign. The move marks a shift away from Cookson Boats who have been Team New Zealand's boatbuilder since 2000. No reasons have been given for the decision to change the builder.
