El príncipe Frederick de Dinamarca y windsurfista Víctor Fernández

El príncipe heredero Frederick de Dinamarca conoció ayer en Klitmoller (Dinamarca) al español Víctor Fernández, número dos del mundo de windsurf, y a las otras estrellas de este deporte que se han reunido esta semana en el frío 'Hawaii' danés para celebrar el Campeonato del Mundo de Windsurf.

El príncipe heredero Frederick de Dinamarca es un reconocido amante del mundo de la vela y del deporte en general. Su polivalencia deportiva le ha llevado a participar en varios campeonatos europeos y mundiales de vela; así como en varias maratones (Paris, New York y Copenhague) y a completar un Iron Man en Copenhague.

Esta vez han sido las olas del frío 'Hawaii' danés las que han atraído al príncipe Frederick, padrino de este Campeonato del Mundo de Windsurf, que pasó el día de ayer practicando este deporte junto a niños de entre 7 y 15 años. Posteriormente se acercó con una moto acuática para seguir de cerca a los winsurfistas profesionales, entre los que se encontraba el español Víctor Fernández, actual número dos del mundo y que acude a esta cita con ganas de llevarse el título de Campeón del Mundo a casa.

'Como regatista, puedo afirmar que la técnica y las acrobacias de estos chicos son impresionantes; es increíble como hacen que sea posible desafiar a las leyes de la gravedad', afirmó el príncipe Frederick. 'Para Dinamarca es muy importante este campeonato. Nos hemos dado cuenta de que es algo de lo que estar orgullosos y también una atracción para los turistas de toda Europa o incluso del mundo entero'.


Philip Köster, joven alemán de 19 años que reside en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y que también está entre los favoritos del campeonato, reconoció tras la visita del príncipe heredero: 'Está muy bien que el príncipe venga y participe en este tipo de cosas. Vivo en España y no creo que esto se vea muy a menudo por allí'.

Campeonato del Mundo de windsurf KIA Cold Hawaii, presentado por City Lift A/S y Thy-Mors HF & VUC con la colaboración de Thisted Municipality, Sport Event Denmark, LAG Thy-Mors, Visit North Jutland, Feriepartner Thy, Sparekassen Thy, Gripsign y Spar Klitmøller. Este evento anual existe desde 2010.
