Dhow sails by Doyle - delivered in record time SW
In United Arab Emirates they take dhow racing seriously; seriously enough to offer over $1 million prize money for a race. When they need sails in a hurry they turn to Doyle Sails Australia.
On Tuesday morning Doyle Sails in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney received an email from a customer in UAE requesting a mainsail for a 60 foot dhow with the instruction that it needed to be shipped by Thursday.
John Hearne explains:
'Dhows are a specialty sail, the customers are very particular about what they want in terms of cloth and the design. Over the years we have worked with the sailors over there to develop faster sails, they seem to be winning races and keep coming back to us'.
Doyle Sails took delivery of the cloth on Wednesday morning, and this morning (Thursday) the completed sail was picked up by the courier for express delivery to the Emirates.
John Hearne comments:
'We made the sail in-house at our loft in Sydney and we are pleased that our customers have the faith in our ability to turn around orders quickly either working from our loft in Sydney or fabricating at our Stratis lamination plant in Auckland'.
'It’s a shame that we are not allowed to brand the sails with the company logo as I think we would have a lot more dhow sailors knocking at the door!'
