Digital Media Locker plus Blue Tooth connection for a dry iPhone

by Sail-World Cruising on 18 May 2013
Digital Media Locker - keeping your on-board iPhone secure and dry SW
Using an iPhone on board sailing boats is becoming more and more common as the marine Apps increase, but this product of the week does much more than protect your iPhone in a hazardous environment. We thought it was worth featuring, with its new Blue Tooth connection.

The Digital Media Locker(engagingly called AQ-DM-4UBT) is packed with useful features and functions to get the most out of your digital media and AV installation.

All you do is place you iPod, iPhone or other digital media device into the locker, connect and secure it and close the door knowing your device will stay safe and dry inside the fully waterproof enclosure!

The flagship model features a host of connections, including 3.5mm stereo jack socket, USB and Bluetooth, to suit the majority of iPod, iPhone, USB or MP3 devices. Device charging is available for iPod, iPhone and some other devices when connected via USB.

Traditional FM radio is also provided with 3x FM pre-set memory and a switchable US/Euro tuner.

Drive up to eight external speakers with the powerful 288W amplifier which is both 2 Ohm and 4 Ohm stable. Stereo RCA Auxilliary ouputs provide connection of external amplifier or an active subwoofer to you system. DSP EQ technology provides powerful sound sculpture for high quality audio and EQ control, along with standard fader, balance and bass/treble control.

This unusual sea locker also offers a 12V trigger to allow remote activation of external devices, such as additional amplifiers or deck/spot lighting, giving full control to the complete AV experience!

The locker is fully waterproof, with a conformal coated PCB and sealed stainless steel chassis, providing an Ingress Protection rating of IP65. In addition, highest quality UV plastics are used to give protection against UV and salt/fog damage - protection enough for boat/marine, spa, BBQ or any outdoor environment.

You can also take control of your device with the floating, waterproof remote control allowing 2-way RF (Radio Frequency) communication between your digital media device, such as iPod, iPhone, USB or MP3, so you can view and navigate song or track information on the waterproof remote control's back-lit LCD screen. Should the remote control be out of reach, no problem! Control is also available via external door controls located on the front of the Locker's door.

There are other versions, providing slightly fewer facilities if you decide you don't need them:

AQ-DM-4U: same spec asAQ-DM-4UBT, but without Bluetooth.

AQ-DM-4B: same spec as the AQ-DM-4U, but with Apple 30-pin connector instead of USB.

AQ-DM-3B: our entry level Digital Media Locker™.

The top model costs around $360 but what is it worth to keep your media applications, and especially the vital iPhone, dry and secure? There are plenty of distributors in the USA, and those listed below in the northern hemisphere - none so far in the southern hemisphere, but no matter where you are you can purchase online by http://www.aquaticav.com/store/catalogsearch/result/?q=Digital+Media+Locker!clicking_here.
