'43EV0014-1 AB JW-clinic 1'    Andrew Brown

Hi All,
During the last weekend of September Forceracing held a free WINNER and J SAIL clinic for clients of the best Optimist product in New Zealand. The numbers for the clinic was limited to 40 sailors with 6 top coaches, who did a great job of coaching during this clinic. The focus was boatspeed. Unfortunately there wasn’t so much wind but we got out for two sessions and some racing.

The following week was the Murrays Bay Pre Win Champs coaching clinic, in which Forceracing was contracted to run the coaches and the general programme.

There were 23 coaches involved over the two days and the sailors were strongly tested in 25 knots + on day 1 and 20 knots + on day 2 – making for tired sailors and coaches after the two days had finished.

The Win Champs had a day cancelled due to excessive wind, and the last day there were massive varying shifts of up to 50 degrees, not making for flash racing, but 7 races were completed. Forceracing had a squad of Opti sailors Andrew was coaching and this worked out well with all the sailors gaining a good learning experience.

Andrew is also now sailing a Sunburst with his son Cam at Wakatere on nice days, in which Opening wasn’t the best day of racing for the team with 20+ knots on the water. The racing in the end got called off, so the decision of leaving the boat in the garage was well justified.

On the 27th of October Andrew and Forceracing are involved in the Starboard Paddle for Hope

This event in Auckland’s Viaduct is to raise awareness and crucial funding for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation. Andrew has teamed up with 3 other REAL Sailors, James (Hurricane) Turner, Marcus (Mad Dog) Hansen and JP (Twin Turbo) Tobin. Our goal is get the sailing community behind us and to raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer research.
